A Strong Year for Capital Raising
SIX Swiss Exchange is a listing destination of choice for a number of Europe’s leading companies, and provides a gateway to global financial markets and access to a deep pool of Swiss and international investors. With regards to capital raising, 2024 was a very strong year. Two companies chose to issue and list equity securities on SIX Swiss Exchange: Galderma with a market capitalization of CHF 14.5 bn and Sunrise with CHF 3.2 bn.
Galderma’s placement volume was around CHF 2.3 billion (including over-allotment option) which represents the largest IPO placement in Switzerland since 2017. Equally important is the fact that companies that are already listed made active use of the Swiss capital market and were able to raise around CHF 2.3 billion via equity capital increases in the past year. A further CHF 104 bn were raised in bonds, exceeding the CHF 100 bn threshold for the third year in a row – a strong sign for the Swiss financial center. With 453, there were also more new listings in the bond segment than in the previous year (436).
