The ETP & Indexing Guide offers exciting content on ETFs, ETPs and tracker certificates. Each year, its unique mix of interviews, articles, product facts and a rating supports investors in making informed investment decisions. The guide is co-published by Payoff and SIX Swiss Exchange, Switzerland's most important trading venue, to promote the understanding of exchange-traded products.
It features an editorial by André Buck, Head Debt Capital Markets at SIX Swiss Exchange, and an interview with Danielle Reischuk, Senior ETFs & ETPs Sales Manager. Together, they explore the dynamic growth and innovation in the ETF and ETP market, highlighting how the Swiss stock exchange evolves to offer solutions from a single source across a full spectrum of asset classes.
Dynamic Growth and Innovation in the ETF and ETP Market
In his foreword, André Buck describes how SIX Swiss Exchange is not only adapting to changes in the financial markets, but actively driving them forward in order to offer clients innovative and future-proof solutions. He also addresses current trends such as rising interest in ESG investments, regulatory changes and progress in the areas of digitalisation and artificial intelligence.
Strong Growth for ESG Products and Active ETFs
In her interview, Danielle Reischuk emphasises the strong growth of the Swiss ETF market in 2024, during which the total number of tradable ETFs rose to over 1,800 thanks to 132 new ETF listings. The increasing focus on ESG investments is particularly noteworthy, as almost half of the newly listed ETFs on SIX Swiss Exchange have an ESG focus. Strong growth can also be seen in the area of actively managed ETFs, with these ETFs attracting more and more assets worldwide.
The ETP segment of the Swiss Stock Exchange is also showing growth, with 200 listed ETPs, including many with crypto underlyings such as Bitcoin and Ethereum. The introduction of the new regulation in April 2024 has boosted confidence in crypto ETPs and enabled broader investor access. SIX Swiss Exchange promotes the development of innovative products by providing issuers with a transparent trading platform and ensuring regulatory standards.
With regard to innovations and future developments, Danielle Reischuk refers to the expansion of the full spectrum ETF value chain of SIX, which includes market, index and reference data services. Another innovation she mentions is the ETF QOD Europe functionality, a pan-European on-exchange RFQ platform. This facilitates the trading of ETFs listed on European primary exchanges and expands the range of ETFs tradable on SIX Swiss Exchange to over 6,000 products.
