B1G Numbers June 2024: Key Figures from SIX Swiss Exchange

Trading turnover on SIX Swiss Exchange totalled CHF 92.1 billion in June – significantly less than in the previous month, but 2.6% more than in June 2023. 635,102 mn were traded in H1/24 – an impressive 14.3% more than in H1/23. In terms of transactions, there were just over 3.5 million trades in June, also less than in the previous month – but with 24.2 million in the first half of the year, roughly at the same level as in 2023. 

It has been a good year so far for the Swiss blue-chip index SMI. Although it did not make gains in June, at month-end it was 7.7% above its level at the beginning of the year, at just under 12,000 points. 

Looking back at the listing activities, SIX Swiss Exchange recorded the – at the time in March – world’s largest IPO. With a market capitalisation of CHF 14.5 billion at the start of trading, Galderma was also the largest IPO in Switzerland since 2017. In the first half of the year, there was only one IPO in the world which was bigger – that of Puig in May on the Spanish BME Exchange, also operated by SIX. 

SIX Swiss Exchange also welcomed two new product issuers during the first half of the year: Issuance.Swiss in the crypto ETP segment and Helvetia Asset Management as an investment fund issuer.
