In July, the Swiss blue-chip index SMI, which had closed just below 12,000 points in June, climbed above this mark and reached its provisional annual high of 12,434 points on 15 July. It closed the month at 12,317.4 points, up 2.7% on June and 10.6% since the beginning of the year.
With regards to trading activity on SIX Swiss Exchange, turnover rose by 3% to CHF 94.9bn in July, while the number of transactions increased significantly: at over 4mn, it was 14.4% higher than in the previous month.
