Emmi, Switzerland’s largest dairy company, is celebrating a special anniversary this year: 20 years on SIX Swiss Exchange. Since its IPO in 2004, Emmi has developed from a national pioneer into a global player. The listing on the SIX Swiss Exchange played a decisive role in fulfilling the expansion plans and strategic acquisitions. In the last two decades, Emmi has acquired over 40 companies, mostly from other countries. Today, Emmi generates around 60% of its sales abroad.

Increased visibility and trust

What is behind this success? “The capital from the IPO and the increased awareness of our company in Switzerland and abroad have enabled us to realize our growth plans,” says Oliver Wasem, CFO of Emmi. Capital is one thing. But as a listed company, you still have advantages that are not of a financial nature. The best example is increased visibility, both national and international.

CFO Oliver Wasem also emphasizes how the trust gained from investors, partners and customers has paved the way for further growth. Emmi’s story makes it clear that an IPO is more than just a one-off event: it is a long-term investment in the future of a company.
