The purpose of this joint program is to provide senior executives and board members with updates on the various regulatory changes impacting the market, together with information covering best practices around corporate governance. In addition, it will help drive up standards in the country’s corporate governance practices.
The first edition of the course was kicked-off on 20 October 2023 and will run till June 2024. The program is split into eight separate modules – and is led by a combination of leading academics and industry practitioners. The modules cover a diverse range of topics, including sustainability, cyber-risk, succession planning, and board resilience, to name but a few.
“An engaged board is vital if companies are to thrive over the long-term and be sustainable. We believe this program will contribute to good corporate governance practice in Switzerland, further cementing the country’s reputation as a premier listing destination,” said Valeria Ceccarelli, Head Primary Markets, SIX Swiss Exchange.
SIX has a successful track record of supporting educational programs designed to bolster the country’s capital markets. For example, the Exchange launched the Sparks IPO Academy, a course targeting executives at growing SMEs to prepare them for a potential Sparks IPO.
Similarly, SIX's BörsenTalk series provides industry professionals with insights into the most topical issues of the day, with past events covering themes such as crypto-investing; ESG (environmental, social, governance) and ETF (exchange traded fund) liquidity.
HSG and SIX have already announced the Board Essentials Program edition for 2024-25. Applications are open and interest parties can sign up here.
