Over 80 mobile payment terminals are stationed in the area to allow guests to book tickets and purchase food and drinks using cashless payment. SIX’s latest mobile payment solution "mPRIME" will also be used within the catering sector in the Mastercard zone, where smartphones and tablets can be used to make purchases at any selling point.

SIX provides the entire payment infrastructure as well as a dedicated operations team who are on site over the weekend in order to ensure smooth operation of the systems. Providing cashless payment solutions for events of this scale is one of the core competencies of SIX in Austria.

Go cashless and save time

Troublesome cash handling is avoided, and queues are minimised. Convenient card payments – enabling payment for purchases less than 25 Euros without a PIN or signature – allow visitors to focus on the main event, the Hahnenkamm race. Race-goers will able to make quick, secure payments in the following sections:

- In the Mastercard zone in the city centre of Kitzbühel
- For all ticket sales in the entrance areas
- On selected stands at the finishing post

No time-consuming cash handling

Because of SIX’s cashless payments services, caterers do not have to worry about providing change, and the risk of theft is eliminated. Visitors will benefit from uncomplicated payment processing and final billing at the push of a button.

Roger Niederer, Managing Director of SIX Payment Services in Austria, said: "The trend for cashless events is spreading across a range of areas, including sporting events. We are proud to support the Hahnenkamm race, the most challenging ski race in the world, for the third time with our most innovative payment solutions.

“At such a popular and large-scale event, it is very important to provide customers with seamless and efficient services, and cashless payment is an essential part of this. As we see the trend for cashless events growing we look forward to continuing our support for the organizers and restaurateurs with fast and secure payment processing.”

Faster with the Mastercard Fastlane

In addition to the cashless services in the city centre and at selected stands, in the exclusive Mastercard Fastlane, cardholders have access to a complete end-to-end streamlined process. Here, visitors who purchased tickets using a Mastercard or Maestro debit card will receive fast-track access to the spectator area. Visitors to the Mastercard Area will also gain a further bonus: cardholders are spared paying a 1 Euro deposit for their cups, and they will even receive a 1 Euro refund once they are safely returned.
