About the Nordic ESG Indices

The objective of SIX is to establish robust, sustainable, and independent benchmarks for many markets. To this end, SIX has created several ESG benchmarks in the Nordic market.

These benchmarks serve to highlight companies that are both profitable and sustainable. However, defining what constitutes a sustainable company isn’t straightforward. In practice, sustainable investments are assessed using various criteria. ESG stands for environmental, social, and corporate governance. A company’s CO2 footprint, recycling management, human rights practices, and financial transparency are examples of important ESG aspects.

Our Nordic ESG indices provide investors with a framework for assessing companies’ long-term sustainability and ethical practices. This in turn reduces risk associated with unsustainable business models, making ESG investing a crucial component of modern portfolio management.

As the sustainability focus and ESG continue to grow among investors, the Nordic ESG indices serve as a guiding tool for responsible investing in the region.
