Bells have been rung around the world for almost 5,000 years, heralding coming changes. Their shape may have changed, but their symbolism and meaning remain central to the communities we build. In New York, a bell has always announced an IPO, and in Switzerland, this tradition is also lived with a traditional cowbell. It is essential for SIX to celebrate the start of a successful future for the listed companies.
The Spanish stock exchange has double reason to celebrate, with the introduction of two new IPO trophies: one for the growth-oriented market (BME Growth), and one for the main market.
The first company to receive one of these trophies was Enerside on March 4, 2022. The company was the first to be listed on BME Exchange this year. The reference price of 5.46 euro, which corresponded to the subscription price of the capital increases carried out by the company, resulted in a total valuation of the company of 203.79 million euro.
Artist Fredinko Creates New IPO Trophies for BME Exchange
The new IPO trophies were designed and created by the skillful and renowned artist Fredinko, from Zurich. Through the chosen colors, symbols, and characters, the trophies represent the Spanish culture. However, elements of the financial world and industries found in the Spanish markets are also present.
Despite similar imagery, the two trophies are very different. The one for BME Growth represents the modernity and innovation of SMEs through the laser-etched bell in 3D, while for the main market an actual bell in the traditional style was used. It’s a miniature version of the bell rung on IPO day in Madrid.
At the Swiss Stock Exchange, a Cowbell Is Ringing
In June 2020, Fredinko created the new IPO trophy for the Swiss stock exchange. On the occasion of their listing on SIX Swiss Exchange, companies have since received a small cowbell, representing a link between tradition and modernity with a unique design. This bell has since been presented to nine companies, the first being Ina Invest. It is based on the large cowbell that has been rung since 2011 at IPOs and other special events – most recently on March 29, 2022, for the listing of Talenthouse.
United under one roof with the Spanish exchange Group BME – following a landmark deal in 2020 – and with the SIX Digital Exchange (SDX), the world's first regulated digital market infrastructure, SIX is Europe’s third largest exchange operator by revenue.
